Step 1
Schedule a Free Phone Consultation
Schedule a FREE phone consultation to speak with one of our clinicians. We can find out a little bit about you and ensure that we’re going to be a great fit for your needs. If not, we have some amazing referrals in the community that we’ll be happy to link you up with. Our #1 priority is getting you the help you need and deserve.
During the consult, we will also answer all of your questions, connect you with the best fit therapist on our team and schedule an intake appointment (or place you on the waitlist, depending on current availability).
Once you are scheduled with a therapist, you will receive intake paperwork via email. This paperwork must be completed 24 hours prior to your appointment.
If you have any trouble with getting yourself scheduled, please contact Britney for assistance: britney@trainyourbrainohio.com
Step 2
Intake Assessment
Getting started with us always starts with an intake appointment. During the intake, we will gather history, symptoms and discuss your goals for treatment. We will also collect a mini qEEG “Brain Map” to get an idea of how your brain is functioning. This Brain Map helps us to create customized protocols for your neurofeedback training with us. We will discuss our overall recommendations with you for treatment moving forward based on this initial assessment.
If you are interested in only doing LENS neurofeedback with us, you do not have to partake in a Brain Map.
After your intake appointment we will start weekly treatment sessions with you.
Step 3
Doing the work
The vast majority of our clients see us on a consistent weekly schedule. It is important that clients are committed to attending weekly sessions, especially early on in treatment. Engaging in neurofeedback is much like “going to the gym for your brain”, if you don’t train often enough, you won’t make the progress you are looking for. For this reason, we highly recommend weekly appointments for at least the first 10 weeks while your brain adjusts to the training.
Weekly sessions can look a bit different for everybody, depending on your goals. Most clients spend an hour with their therapist each week, doing some combination of neurofeedback, counseling and EMDR therapy. Some sessions may have a heavier focus on one modality over another, depending on client’s progress in treatment and their personal goals. We will track your progress through various measures to make sure we’re helping you see the changes you wish to see. We will make adjustments along the way to your neurofeedback protocols and treatment plan as you progress in your work with us.
We recommend that new clients plan for at least 20 sessions with us to meet their goals. Depending on the client’s age, severity of symptoms, physical health and response to treatment, some clients may need more than 20 sessions.
Wrapping it up
Many times our work with our clients lasts months, not years (as with traditional talk-therapy methods). Our goal is always to help you get to a place where you “don’t need us anymore”. We want our clients to thrive and feel confident in moving forward with life, knowing we’ll always be here if you ever need to come back for a “touch-up”. Working with us is a collaborative process, and your path is uniquely your own. We can help you navigate when is a good time to start pulling back from weekly sessions and transition into less frequent sessions and finally, graduate you entirely.
Step 4
Our clinic is SELF-PAY only. We do offer a sliding scale for those who qualify on a limited basis. We can provide receipts for potential out-of-network reimbursement and can help you navigate that process if you need support. See pricing information here.
We specialize in the combination of Neurofeedback and EMDR. It’s what makes our practice unique and sought-after. We also offer Neurofeedback ONLY for those who are utilizing counseling services at other practices. We are not a traditional talk therapy-only practice; if it's the more traditional approach you are seeking we recommend finding a good fit for yourself on Psychology Today.
Trauma is our specialty, but we see a little bit of everything. If you have a brain and a body, we can very likely help you improve your mental health and wellbeing.
We see adults and children of all ages.
